Endovascular Therapy for Acute Stroke: New Evidence and Indications

Endovascular therapy (EVT) has revolutionized the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. In past few years, endovascular indications have expanded to include patients being treated in extended window, with large core infarction, basilar artery occlusion (BAO) thrombectomy, as demonstrated by several randomized clinical trials. Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) bridging mechanical thrombectomy also been studied via trials, overall results indicating that IVT should not be skipped who are candidates for both and EVT. Simplification neuroimaging protocols window permit non-contrast CT, CTA collaterals access particularly regions across world where advanced imaging may available.
